Week in Pictures

It has been a busy week or two weeks rather, since I arrived back home.  I promise to add some of these recipes (along with more to come) once I have some free time in my life.

Mumford and Sons impromptu concert.  Thanks to my mom who literally ran to the box office to get us lawn seats and a few friends that had tickets for under the shell.  The concert was AMAZING--so talented!

Last weekend Brendan took me to the adirondack's with his family. By far one of my top 3 favorite places in the world to visit. The weekend was filled with amazing food, people, hiking, kayaking among other activities.

Carla, one of my friends from UR and a fellow APhi sister told me about this delicious and easy frozen dessert.  I adapted it a bit and made this sort of Lemon cake and chocolate raspberry frozen yogurt layer cake...YUM.

I cannot remember if I mentioned that I had given a bag of items to Egoli but I tossed my runnings sneakers in with the clothing and food pile.  They were of little use to me for running but they were still perfectly fine for someone else to wear on a daily basis. I came home and was getting antsy about running so my mom took me yesterday to get these bad boys.  I went to Medved running hoping for some serious pair of Brooks but they just didn't feel right on my feet and ironically these school bus yellow ugly Asics (that are one step away from minimalists or pure) felt like heaven so I'll be rocking these for quite some time!

First lake run post-south africa and in my new sneakers!

Flying By

I honestly cannot fathom how quickly this semester is coming to a close.  As I sat attempting to write my final essay for a philosophy class I felt the procrastination building.  What to do I thought? I perused pinterest (something I had barely known about the last time I actually wrote on Miscellanea) and then decided it was time to update.

Here is a brief recap on the semester:

I became a sister of the Theta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi at University of Rochester and have already met the most amazing girls that I am proudly able to call my sisters.

I said goodbye to my best friend and first dog Greta (Bunny) who lived an amazing grouchy life constantly scaring away my friends.

Brendan and I went to my friend Sarah's Wedding in Upstate, NY which was absolutely beautiful.

I spent hours making these AMAZING irish car bomb cupcakes for miss. Maureen's birthday

Which we later celebrated with many desserts and a great dinner out with her friends from school.

Spring flowers finally sprouted (and then froze again).

I visited Brendan numerous times all which included some pretty delicious meals. (whole wheat pasta, tomatoes, greek olives, capers, feta, basil)

and most recently, friends from home came to visit for a night out!

While the semester as a whole has been one of the best yet and I have met some of the most influential people that have had a wonderful impact on my life, I have yet to explain the best part.

From June to July (this coming summer) I will be in Cape Town, South Africa!  While in Cape Town I will be taking  course while spending 16-20 hours weekly in clinics, hospice facilities and rural AIDS clinics working with the locals while learning their healthcare system.

I cannot wait to share these experiences with my friends and family through photographs and writing!

Further updates for the coming weeks:
1. Ballet Performance Group spring show, this friday
2. First D-DAY weekend, next weekend
3. My mom and I will run a 5k together next weekend as well
4. Summer begins!

Santa pt. 2

This year I realized that I didn't actually ask for anything this Christmas.  It really is hard to believe that I couldn't think of anything that I really wanted or needed.  I often find myself going through the mall saying I want I want I want but then not actually putting forth the bill for all those I wants...Christmas usually consists of opening multiple Jcrew classics and this year the only articles of clothing I received were pajamas and a bathrobe, and I was perfectly happy with that!

I did manage to get quite a few comfy camp socks, kitchen wears (Le Creuset anyone?) along with a book of pictures of me an my dog and a new pocket camera!  Santa did a great job.

Santa made his trip to the back door and delivered gifts, even to my dog!

 My cousin Rachel and Grandma.

After a nice recap of Christmas and a late night 3am phone call with Brendan I managed to get up and make my way to the YMCA today.  As busy as it was it was actually really nice to see old friends from High School.  I stayed for a while doing some abs and free weights and ended the morning with a nice stretch.

Later on I went and hunted through the clearance aisles at TJ Maxx and Michaels to be sadly disappointed with the lack of sale selection.  I did find a nice royal blue dolman sweater though and then ended my evening with a hot cup of tea and some online shopping at Jcrew.com, old faithful!
